Claudia H. (Montoni) Pittinger passed away on January 13, 2025 surrounded by her family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born on November 25, 1940 in Ravenna and graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, George Pittinger in 1959 and they were married at St. Patrick Church in Kent on July 22, 1961.
Claudia worked at Kent State University in the Bursar's Office where she eventually became the Assistant Bursar before retiring after 25 years.
Claudia loved spending time with her husband, bowling, golfing and vacationing in the sunshine of Myrtle Beach.
She is survived by her two daughters and four sons, Jacquelyn Pittinger-Lovelace, Michele (Bryan) Adams, Michael (Michelle), Jerry (Cathy), Joseph (Dr. Dawn), and Thomas (Bridget). She was blessed with 18 grandchildren, Vincent Pittinger, Nicole (Bryan) Rocks, Lauren, Julie and Sean Pittinger, Marika (Dominic) Reinesto, Jessica (Alec) Renaldo, Thomas and Tyler Lovelace, Alexandra (Jeff) Sinchak, Anthony, Zander and Nevaeh Pittinger, Christopher and Lindsay Rogers, Brett and Victoria Kochman, Gage Pamer and 11 great grandchildren.
Claudia was preceded in death by George, her husband of 53 years; her parents John and Vincentine (Giovangnoli) Montoni; and her sister, Delores Stamm-Orcutt and Briar Adams.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and aides at Danbury Memory Care Unit and the nurses and aides from Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care.
Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Fr. William Wainio and the Rev. Fr. Richard Pentello as Celebrants. Interment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.
