Clayton Louis Cornwell

Clayton (Clay) Louis Cornwell of Lansing, age 63, passed away on November 24, 2025. Clayton was born on August 24, 1962, to parents Richard and Mary (Marks) Cornwell.
Clay was raised in Mason and attended Mason High School where he graduated in 1980. During his time at Mason High School, Clay enjoyed playing football.
Clay went on to work in construction and worked for Fluor Constructors as a quality control inspector for over 30 years. Clay always took great pride in his work and appreciated the comradery of his coworkers. While working for Fluor Constructors, Clay was able to travel around the United States and the world. Most notably Clay spent 3 years in China and 4 years in Kazakhstan.
When Clay wasn't at work he enjoyed the outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing and golfing. Clay could often be found watching different sports games. In particular he loved watching baseball, hockey, or anything Detroit Sports.
Clay is survived by his son Christopher Cornwell, stepdaughter Christine Davis, and grandchildren Eliya, Xavier, Ava. He will also be remembered by his mother Mary Cornwell along with his siblings Tara Cornwell, Lance Cornwell, and Lorrie Polinkus. Clay is preceded by his father Richard Cornwell.
Family was always important to Clay with his children sharing many great memories. He always took the chance to catch up with everyone at family gatherings and share about his projects at work. Clay will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will continue his legacy of hard work and friendship.
