Clayton “Clay” Holsomback, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on November 17, 1954, in Calhoun, Georgia, Clay was the son of Donald Columbus Holsomback and Jacqueline “Jackie” Holbert. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Clay had a zest for life that was truly remarkable. He was an avid deer hunter, an outdoorsman at heart, and a passionate Georgia Bulldogs fan. He loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren play ball and spending time with his family on vacations. A skilled and adventurous cook, Clay was known for his ability to create delicious meals that brought loved ones together. His passion for gardening brought him joy, and his proudest memory was seeing both of his daughters graduate from college.

A dedicated worker, Clay spent 14 years at Carpet Express in flooring sales, where his friendly demeanor and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. He loved “The Valley,” his Sugar Valley Community.

Clay is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Sue D. Holsomback, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He was a proud father to two daughters, Emily Kate Bradshaw and Julie Lauren McFarland and Nathan, and a devoted grandfather to four grandchildren: Ayla Kate McFarland, Vivian Rose Bradshaw, Derek Clayton Bradshaw, Ansley Hope McFarland, and his beloved fur baby Molly.

Clay is also survived by his siblings: Don and Shyrel, Bobby and Brenda, and Susan Joyce and Kelly; sister-in-laws: Myra Grubbs and Montie, Joan Edwards and Donnie, and his nephews: Lance Edwards, Chris Edwards and Katy, Allen Holsomback and Nicole Zane Holsomback and Jaime, Chase Holsomback and Sarah, and Trey Greeson and Courtney, and a beloved family friend, Jenny Martin. His family meant the world to him, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.

The family invites friends to a visitation on Sunday, March 9th from 1-4pm at Thomas Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 10th at 2pm at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Chase Holsomback and Pastor Bryon Brackett. Pallbearers include: Lance Edwards, Chris Edwards, Zane Holsomback, Hayden Holsomback, Trey Greeson, and Allen Holsomback. Clay will be buried alongside his family in Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery.
