SGT (R) Clayton Rue "Clay" Williams Jr., 43, of
Locust Grove, Virginia, passed peacefully on December 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Clay was born on February 13, 1982, in
Cynthiana, Kentucky, to Pamela (Duncan) and Clayton Williams Sr. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Clay will be remembered for his unwavering faith, infectious humor, and his steadfast service to both his country and his community.
Throughout his life, Clay dedicated himself to a life of service. He proudly served in the United States Army as an infantryman, mechanic, and firefighter/EMT, later continuing to serve as a Deputy Jailer for Kenton County, Kentucky. After his military career, Clay transitioned to civilian service as a logistician for the United States Marine Corps at Quantico. His work ethic, leadership, and loyalty inspired those who served alongside him.
Known for his "terrible dad jokes," quick wit, and kind spirit, Clay had the gift of making others feel welcome-he truly knew no stranger. A passionate outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fly fishing, and sharing his legendary storytelling around any campfire. Deeply rooted in faith, Clay lived each day devoted to God, country, and family, serving actively in his church and community whenever possible.
Clay is survived by his beloved wife, Tiffany Marie (Carter) Williams; children Trey Wachsmann, Crystal Williams, Cole Wachsmann, Clayton Williams III, Jasmine Williams, Christian Williams, and Kaylynn Bruner; parents Pamela (William) Duncan and Clayton Williams Sr.; sister Holly (Williams) Sharpshair (Tim); brother Joshua Williams (Christine); and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. A service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 12, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
