Clayton Leslie Wix, 90
HARRINGTON, DE - Clayton Leslie Wix went home to be with his Lord, along with his faithful four legged companion, Sophie on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Beverly and husband, Billy Wyatt; a son, Michael and wife, Anita Wix; grandchildren, Kristin and husband, Martin Holemo, Corey and wife, Janel Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Dalton Holemo, Clayton Tanner Holemo, Britton Holemo, Colton Wyatt and Kaden Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Wix; his parents, Carroll and Violet Wix; and a sister, Gladys Hobbs.
Leslie graduated from the former Harrington High School in 1951 where he loved being a part of the marching band along with his high school sweetheart, Betty. Leslie was drafted into the Army, and married Betty before they traversed the Atlantic to live in Germany. Upon his return to the states, Leslie completed his education at Wesley College. Once Leslie graduated, he began his banking career at Farmer's Bank in Dover. He continued a successful career in banking; which he loved so much that he retired not once, but twice.
Leslie loved being a banker, but also had a passion for gardening, woodworking, sports (especially baseball), and animals (especially horses). Leslie was involved in many volunteer organizations where he wore many hats such as Harrington Little League, the Rotary Club, Kent County Tourism and the Board of American Bankers Association.
Leslie will be sadly missed by his family and all who were touched by his giving heart and helping hands.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave., Wyoming where friends may call from 12-1 PM. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family.
