On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Cleva June Kendrick Jones, 94, moved to her heavenly home and reunited with her husband, John, who had passed away only six weeks earlier. A long-time resident of North Little Rock, Mrs. Jones was born in Atkins, Arkansas, on April 3, 1930, to the late Hugh and Wilma Austin Kendrick.
She was a homemaker who took great pride in her family and home. Her hospitality and excellent cooking skills extended not only to her husband, sons, and grandchildren, but also to the repairmen who serviced their home, friends that her sons brought home, and any neighbor who needed a drink or a bite to eat. She had such a big heart, and she made sure everyone she interacted with knew that she loved them. Oh how we’ll miss her love and kindness. She was truly the hands and feet of Jesus.
She was a Godly woman and attended church at Rose City Church of the Nazarene. She loved her church family and pastors dearly. Mrs. Jones had the best memory. No one’s birthday was forgotten, and she was able to remember and share every detail of growing up in a large family.
Cleva Jones was married to John Lewis Jones for 72 years. They cherished the life they built and all of their years were spent completely devoted to each other. She is survived by her son John Jr, her son Ronald (Sylvia), five grandchildren, Rachel, Julia Grace, Gabriela, William, and Evan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, her sister, Regina Brown, and brother, Edmond Kendrick.
Visitation for Mrs. Jones will be on Monday, March 17, at 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:00 at the Smith Family North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander.
