Mr. Cleveland Jordan, Jr., age 67 of Sandersville, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 10, 2026, following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Spring Baptist Church at 9919 Old Savannah Road, Sandersville, GA. Reverend Lonnie Kelly and Reverend Warren Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
Mr. Jordan was a lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Cleveland Jordan, Sr. and Annie Gundy Jordan. At an early age he began a lifetime of hard work beginning at Fred Todd’s Fina Service Station. He was a proud graduate of Washington County High School, class of 1976. Cleveland worked as a mechanic for the Georgia Department of Transportation and Riteway Ford Company prior to beginning a career in the Kaolin industry, first at AICC and finally retiring from Imerys after 34 years of service. He diligently served his community as the first African American volunteer fire-fighter for the City of Sandersville. Cleveland loved to be outdoors fishing and farming. He was a member of Camp Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his children, Torrance A. Blount and Britney S. Jordan, both of Sandersville; grandchildren, Malayah Blount, Torrance Blount, Jr., Jordan Blount, and Sienna Blount; Mother Annie P. Jordan of Sandersville; siblings, Annie Maude Thomas (Harry) of Reidsville, Larry Jordan of Hepzibah, Kenny Jordan (Tina) of Tennille, and Hattie Ruth Pleas of Alaska; and a host of nieces and nephews.
