With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Clifford Kistler Ernst, who peacefully departed this world on May 25, 2024, at the age of 84. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Cliff was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 26th, 1940, the beloved son of Florian and Rachel Ernst. Growing up in a modest home, Cliff developed a strong work ethic. His drive, leadership skills, and ability to relate to all people lead him to a successful professional career. Despite his professional achievements, Cliff remained humble and true to his roots.
Above all, Cliff was a dedicated family man; Cliff's greatest joy was found in the company of his loved ones. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Dede for 60 years; a loving father to his three children, Steven (Kelli), J.R. (Carol), and Stacey; and a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren, Emily (Jacob), Taylor, Justin, J.T., Olivia, and Caroline. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love, a testament to his commitment to his family. His family and faith guided him through life's journey, shaping him into the compassionate man he became.
Cliff was a member of First United Methodist Church and Poe Williams Sunday school class in Hendersonville where he developed many friendships and deepened his faith. His gentle spirit and genuine kindness touched the lives of all who crossed his path, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Throughout his life, Cliff exemplified the virtues of humility and grace. He approached every challenge with a quiet strength and an unwavering optimism that inspired those around him.
In his leisure time, Cliff could often be found around automobiles, a true passion that brought him joy. He had a deep appreciation for collectible cars and enjoyed sharing his passion with others.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29th from 4-7pm at Hendersonville Memory Garden Funeral Home in Hendersonville, TN. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 30th at 1pm with visitation an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s or Cystic Fibrosis charities in Cliff’s honor.
