Clifford "Joe" Hancock

Services for Clifford Joe Hancock, 80, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Hancock passed peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Tyler. He was born February 20, 1945, in Turnertown to Lorene Lucy and George Everett Hancock.
Joe attended South Spring Baptist Church in Tyler. He graduated from Carlisle High School and the University of Texas at Tyler. He held the position of Chief Building Official with the City of Tyler prior to his retirement in 2015. After he retired, he took great pleasure in lending a helping hand to his grandchildren every chance he got. He cherished his family and friends and was always available for them.
Joe was preceded in death by both parents Lorene Lucy and George Everette Hancock; his oldest son, Jason Reagen Hancock; granddaughter, Sloane Marie Hancock; and siblings, Georgia Gaddis, Johnny and Gene Hancock. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 46 years, Jo Ruth; daughters, Shannon Lea Blackie, Devin Glenn and husband Darrin; sons, Adam Hancock, Matthew Hancock and wife Vanessa; grandchildren, Brian, Jr. and Daniel Blackie, Ashley and Dylan Glenn, Reese Moore, Harper and Hunter Hancock and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, Logan and Stanton Clifford Blackie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Joe loved to spend any free time fishing, going to Buffalo Trap Skeet Club with his friends, taking beach vacations with family and friends, and dining out. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it at any time day or night.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hancock, Randy Miller, Dylan Glenn, Reese Moore, A. J. Randolph, Roger Kirchner, and Hunter Hancock. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrin Glenn, Kenny Gaddis, Curtis Gaddis, and Blas Murillo.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
