Clifford Chandler Murray, affectionately known as Buddy, was born on May 3, 1955, in Athens, Georgia. He departed this life on September 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy rich with love and cherished memories.

Buddy dedicated three decades of his life to International Paper as a supervisor, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. His professional journey didn’t end there; he continued to build a substantial career with Trus Joist for ten years, followed by another decade of service at the University of Georgia, where he embraced every challenge with the same determination he applied in his personal life.

Beyond his work, Buddy had a profound passion for life on the farm. He found joy in raising cattle, nurturing the land with the same care he bestowed upon his family. His heart resonated with a simple yet fulfilling rhythm, defined by the seasons, the growth of his herd, and the timeless bond of farming.

In his spare afternoons, one could often find him engrossed in the thrill of NASCAR racing or cheering passionately for the Georgia Bulldogs, embodying the spirit of a true fan. Fishing was not just a pastime but a sanctuary where he found solace, casting his line amidst the tranquility of nature.

Buddy was a loving husband, devoted to his dear wife, Mary Jo Garrett Murray, whose partnership illuminated their journey together for 50 years of marriage. He was a proud father to Kimberly (Russell Watkins) Murray and Matthew Murray, who carry his legacy forward with pride. The joy of Buddy’s life was unmistakably reflected in the sparkle of his two granddaughters, Peyton Joanna Watkins and Madyson Cheri Sue Murray, who were the light of his world. He adored them with a fierce love, filling their lives with laughter, protection, and wisdom.

The mournful echoes of his absence will resonate deeply within the hearts of a family who have endured the loss of another beloved member, his daughter Tabitha Nicole Murray. Buddy's parents, Samuel Arlue Murray and Lois Georgian Chandler Murray, also welcomed him into eternal rest. Their memories continue to weave through the fabric of his life, shaping the man he became.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11AM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel with Revs. Randy Crowe and Jeff Tinsley officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Murray, Rusty Watkins, Ray Brown, Leonard Garrett, David Cloud and Ken Smith. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the funeral home.
