Clifford M. Perry

Clifford M Perry, 87, of Milton Vermont, passed away from Alzheimer's on January 31, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born November 10, 1935 in Burlington, Vermont to Cyrus M and Eulea (Morton) Perry and raised in the small town of Westford, Vermont where he grew up watching his father work as the town road commissioner which sparked his interest in trucking. Cliff worked all over the State of Vermont, New Hampshire and New York working for Pike Industries. He used to say he was involved with the building of every mile of the interstates running through Vermont.
Eventually he started his own trucking company, C Perry Trucking, working with companies like SD Ireland, Griswolds and Barretts to name a few.
He had a kind nature who was always willing to help anybody in need and a witty sense of humor that carried over into his own views on life. Cliff was a hard working man who loved driving trucks and running his business, not retiring until his early 80's. His knowledge of trucks and how to maintain them goes beyond anything you can learn in school.
With his sharp wit and ability to tell entertaining stories, he amassed a great number of close friends and colleagues. He was such a staple in the trucking industry that it is impossible to list them all.
Dad used to love snowmobiling and taking us kids up into the woods where we would have cookouts eating hotdogs on a stick and drinking hot chocolate. He also had a love for his Harley that he used to kick himself for selling after his son was born. Cliff instilled in his children the importance of hard work and to treat people the way you would want to be treated. He truly had an old school attitude.
He was a straight shooter who in his own words "had no back door".
Cliff is survived by his son Christopher Perry (Rebecca) and daughter Michelle Holden (Jonathan), Grandchildren Lydia, Cyrus, Savannah and Sabrianna. Stepdaughter Gail Haupt and her husband Tommy Raftery who lovingly opened their home to care for Cliff in the last couple of months of his life. Cliff is also survived by his long time companion Jane Chamberlain.
Cliff was predeceased by his parent's, sister Jane McGinley, baby brother Harris, mother to his children Lynda Strobridge Douglass and wife Mary Lahue Perry.
To honor Cliff's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or services, however there will be a celebration of his life in the spring/summer 2023.
