Clifford Powders Jr

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Clifford Powders Jr., affectionately known as "Mookie." He departed this life on September 12, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born on October 5, 1959, to the late Clifford Sr. and Ethel Powders, Clifford was raised in a home guided by faith, love, and integrity. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior at Zion Travis Baptist Church, committing to a life rooted in spiritual values and purpose.
Clifford graduated from Walter Cohen High School in 1979. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served his country for 20 years (1979–1999). A man of discipline and quiet strength, his service was marked by leadership, resilience, and brotherhood.
Beyond his military career, Clifford was a man of character known for his warm heart, quick wit, and devotion to his family. Whether he was offering wisdom to a niece, nephew or joking with old friends, his presence was a gift to all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and Five cherished siblings Elnora Booker, Myrtle Senior, Willie Mathews Sr., Letitia Rollins, Arnell Sybil Powders. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving fiancée, Michelle his devoted daughters, Hannah Powders and Savanah Powders his beloved sister, Nedra Powders and a multitude of nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a guiding light.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his Funeral Service at DW. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 10:00 am.
