Clifford Woods, Jr. Obituary Clifford William Woods, Jr., a cherished family man, steadfast patriot, and beloved member of the
Orange, California community, passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on February 15, 1931, in Versailles, Pennsylvania, Clifford's life was marked by dedication, love, and quiet strength.
Clifford's journey began in the close-knit town of Versailles, where he attended local schools and graduated from McKeesport High School. After completing his education, Clifford's sense of duty led him to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served his country with honor in Japan and Korea, forming the foundation of the resilience and patriotism that would define his character.
Upon returning from his service, Clifford laid down roots in California, where he met the love of his life, Maryann Binns. As neighbors, they quickly grew close, their bond blossoming into romance. Clifford and Maryann married and embarked on a remarkable journey of over 56 years together, until her passing in 2019. Their love was a testament to commitment and joy, setting an example for all who knew them.
Clifford's professional life was characterized by hard work and dedication. For over three decades, he was a valued employee at Delco Remy Battery Company, contributing to the success of General Motors with his expertise. Even after retirement, Clifford's work ethic remained, as he continued to provide for his family, ensuring their comfort and security.
Family was the cornerstone of Clifford's life. He is survived by his loving son, Greg Woods, and daughter-in-law, Felicia; his devoted daughter, Mildred "Millie" Jackson; his adoring grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, and Nathanial; and his seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Desiree, Noah, Tabitha, Luke, Matthew, and Katarina. Clifford was preceded in death by his treasured wife, Maryann Woods; his granddaughter, Katie Linder; and his grandson, Joshua Linder.
Clifford's interests reflected the simplicity and depth of his character. He and Maryann were fixtures at local malls, where they walked daily routes during their retirement. Clifford often contented himself with a cup of hot black coffee while Maryann shopped. His love for coffee was renowned among family and friends-always black, a simple pleasure that brought him comfort and warmth.
After Maryann's passing, Clifford continued his daily walks and routines, visiting friends at the malls and his son's home for that cherished cup of coffee. He found solace in boxing matches on television and the quiet challenge of a game of solitaire. Eventually, Clifford moved in with Greg and Felicia, where he enjoyed tranquil mornings and the company of his beloved family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, keeping his spirit youthful and his heart full.
Generous and loving, Clifford's legacy is one of unwavering support, boundless affection, and a life well-lived. His example of genuine kindness and dedication to those he loved will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. Clifford William Woods, Jr.'s memory will be treasured, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
