Mr. Clifton Lee Barber Sr. “pawpaw”, 86, passed away on March 16, 2025, at his home in Tobaccoville. He was born on June 2, 1938, in Guilford County to the late Harmon Barber and Clarice Williams Barber. Clifton enjoyed cutting wood, splitting wood, and pulling nails. He was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. He served his church and church family in many roles. Clifton never met a stranger and loved to hand out candy to the children of the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Carl, Robert, Don, and Harmon, and two sisters; Rosa and Imagene. Clifton is survived by his wife of 63 blessed years, Dora Barber; four children, Leeann Tucker (Steve), Jimmy Barber (Tammy), Kim Nicholson (David), and Lee Barber Jr; six grandchildren, Kevin Tucker, Elisabeth Tucker, Jason Barber, Nicolas Barber, Brandon Brendle, and Joshua Brendle; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the church.
