Clinton Chaney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fletcher Funeral Home on Feb. 9, 2026.
One of the smaller Giants that walked this Earth. From the sands of the Sahara Desert to the waters of the Orinoco River! And as far as we know he never backed away from any task throughout his Life!

Born to Clifford and Jewel Chaney on October 4, 1930, in Lindsey, Oklahoma, during the beginning years of the Great Depression.

Clint was the third child of five brothers and four sisters. He spent his early years in the Healdton, Davis, and Comanche areas. His family moved north of Cyril where he attended several of the small rural schools, often walking.

Clint started a lifelong career in the oil field at a very young age, riding with his dad to pump wells in the Cyril and Cement area. He was helping pull rods at the age of fourteen. The oilfield led him to work in Oklahoma, Texas, and overseas duty in Venezuela, Libya, and Iran.

He joined the United States Army November 23, 1946, six weeks after his sixteenth birthday, transferring over when the Army Air Corp split off to become the Air Force.

Clint was honorably discharged from the Air Force on November 22, 1949, as a Corporal.

Clint met Francis Marie Day, walking down the street of Cement Oklahoma with his brother Tom. He married Francis Chaney on March 26, 1954, and they had 71 wonderful years together. Clint fought for every day because he didn't want to leave Francis. He instilled a strong work ethic, truth, and importance of family to his children. They raised four sons and one daughter.

Clint is survived by his wife Francis, sons: Phillip (Cheryl) Chaney, Jerry (Laverne) Chaney, and Danny (Deneva) Chaney; daughter, Tracy (Johnny) Gibson; twelve grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers: Elvin, Tom, Clifford, and David; sisters: Dorothy, Anna Fay, Ollyne, and Judy; one son, Kevin Chaney, and one grandson, Tyler Loyd Chaney.

Graveside service for Clinton Chaney will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Cement Cemetery with RC Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
