Clinton James Peterson, age 54, passed away on August 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He faced each day with determination and resilience, ultimately going the way he lived—fighting until the very end.
Born in Provo, Utah, on July 11, 1971, Clint was known to many by his online persona, The Green Basketball. A gifted writer and storyteller, he was a prominent voice in the basketball community, contributing to ESPN's TrueHoop Network, the Utah Jazz, and numerous independent publications.
On Twitter, he was a proud troublemaker under the handle @Clintonite33, where he brought humor, insight, and passion to his followers. Beyond his digital presence, Clint was a man of many talents and interests. He was an accredited illustrator, a devoted single father, and a lifelong sports and race car enthusiast. He found joy in rock hounding, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the outdoors.
Clint is survived by his beloved children and grandchildren: Conner, Audrey, and Elijah Peterson; Cameron, Brianna, Amaya, Maverik, and Vale Peterson; Aspen, Tyler, and Alora Bangerter, Cira Peterson; and Harley Durand.He is also survived by his loving mother Gayle Harman and Larry Perkins; his stepmother Janet Peterson and John Chatterton; and his ten siblings, along with many more cherished family members in their large, blended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, David A. Peterson, and his daughter, Angela Peterson.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 6:50 PM, followed by a service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at City View Mortuary and Cemetery, 1001 E 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah. Flowers may be delivered to the mortuary that day.
Clint will be remembered for his quick wit, his fierce love for his family.
