Clive was born on December 16, 1936 in Esh Winning, County Durham, England, the son of the late John William and Elizabeth (Maughan) Henery. He graduated from Johnston Comprehensive School and Sheffield University. Clive later received his Masters and Doctoral degrees from Indiana University.
Clive was a professor at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam for 40 years. He specialized in keyboard instruments, music history and theory. Professionally, Clive played the harpsichord, piano and organ.
He loved camping and traveling to England and the American Southwest with his family. He enjoyed following the English Premier Football League and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Clive is survived by his wife Sandra; his son Jonathan and Cheryl Henery of Mount Vernon, NY; daughter Julia A. Henery of Marcellus, NY and; two grandchildren, Sophia Elizabeth Maum and Magnolia Quinn Maum; two sisters, Thelma Procter and Mary Penny, both in England.
He is predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Millikin and Margaret Glew.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam. Burial will take place in Bayside Cemetery.
