Stafford – Clois Mae Stafford, age 86, of
Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Baxter, Florida on November 14, 1938, to the late Elder George Dewey Fish, Sr. and Verdie Mae Rhoden Fish. Clois was a lifelong resident of Baker County. After attending Taylor School, Clois married Allen Stafford on October 22, 1955. They lovingly raised their 3 children together and were blessed with 33 wonderful years until his passing in July of 1988. Clois was employed at Western Auto in Macclenny, then Kwik Stop Convenience Store in Glen St. Mary, and even had an in-home daycare until embarking into her career at the Baker County Sheriff's Office, where she proudly served as administrative secretary for 19 years. In the early 1990's, Clois met Steve E. Stafford and they were happily married on February 14, 1991. Clois and Steve thoroughly enjoyed the past 34 years of marriage. They owned and operated the Fastway Food Store in Olustee for years and were thankful to have created many friendships with their customers. Clois enjoyed reading, being outdoors, tending her flower gardens, and especially loved the beauty of her roses. More than anything Clois treasured her family, cherished making sweet memories with them, and found the most joy from her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Clois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Stafford; and siblings, GD Fish, Jr., Morris Fish, Elgin Fish, Drew Fish, Ethel Fish Powell, Myrle Fish Wiggins, and Estelle Fish Burnsed.
Clois is survived by her loving husband, Steve E. Stafford of
Macclenny, FL; children, Pamela Smythe of White Springs, FL, Gary L. Stafford of Olustee, FL, and Susan (Donald) Wallace of Glen St. Mary, FL; step children, Jude (Christy) Stafford and Angela (Real) Bureau; grandchildren, Gary A. Stafford, Melissa (Ronnie) Brunette, Patrick (Samantha) Smythe, and Jimmy Fannin; step grandchildren, Joe, Clayton, Destiny, Taylor, Tyler, Geoffrey, and Haley; great grandchildren, Kaitlin (Alex) Arceo, Kristin (Kaymin) Matsko, Ronnie Brunette, Jr., Levi Brunette, and Haley Smythe; step great grandchildren, Jaeylyn,Harper, Ava, McKenna, Brinleigh, Zoey, Austin, Thomas, and Solomon; great-great grandchildren, Lainey Matsko, Paisley Mae Matsko, Mateo Arceo, Gabriel Arceo; along with several extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Clois' life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at Taylor Church with Pastor Mark Woods and Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. Interment will follow at South Prong Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel.
