A Tribute to Clyde Warren "Rennie" Davidson
May 22, 1934 – January 7, 2026
We honor the life of Clyde Warren "Rennie" Davidson - devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, great grandfather, and a man whose ingenuity, resilience, and quiet strength shaped every chapter of his remarkable life.
Clyde grew up in
Palatine, Illinois, during a time when the world was anything but simple. His childhood was shaped by the challenges of the Great Depression and the long months when his father served overseas in World War II. These early experiences forged in him a deep sense of responsibility, resourcefulness, and determination - qualities that would define him throughout his life.
He met Vera, the love of his life and the apple of his eye, in grade school. Their bond was immediate and enduring. On August 7, 1950, they married and soon set out together for Golden, Colorado, ready to build a new life side by side. Their partnership would become the foundation of a family rooted in love, creativity, and shared adventure. The family celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary in August of 2025!
Clyde enlisted in the United States Army, serving active duty from 1954 to 1956 in Wiesbaden, Germany and reserve duty until 1962. In Germany, he taught pole climbing and radio installation skills, excelling as a soldier and quickly advancing in rank. Vera and their young son, Kim, traveled across the ocean to join him, creating cherished memories of family life abroad and giving them an opportunity to travel to Denmark and meet Vera's relatives.
Clyde and Vera's first home still stands on 2nd Street in Golden. It was so small that Clyde had to use the attic for his electronics projects and the crawl space for his woodworking projects. He didn't let that deter him from building a high-fidelity stereo, beautiful, twisted cedar lamps for family Christmas gifts and many other projects.
For more than 30 years, Clyde worked as a photo engraver at the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News, mastering a craft that required precision, patience, and skill. But his creativity didn't stop there. In 1967, Clyde and Vera founded Reva Art Glass, a labor of love that blossomed into more than 50 years of designing and building stunning stained glass windows, lamps, panels, and mobiles. Their work brightens countless churches, homes and hearts, a testament to their shared artistry and vision.
Clyde was an inventor at heart - a natural engineer with a mind always turning toward possibility. In the 1960s, he designed and built a custom pickup camper for his 1962 Ford truck, complete with a welded angle iron frame and an ingenious lift roof system. It was more than a camper; it was a symbol of his engineering prowess. In it, the family traveled and camped, creating priceless memories and a shared love of RVing, exploration, and togetherness.
Another of Clyde and Vera's most treasured possessions was their classic 1989 Aero Cruiser motorhome, a compact yet capable coach. Clyde poured his creativity and craftsmanship into renovating and customizing it, turning it into a comfortable, beautifully personalized home on wheels. In it, they traveled coast-to-coast together until they were nearly 90 years old!
He also cherished the boat he bought new in 1972, a vessel that carried the family through years of waterskiing, fishing, and joyful summer days. Those times - sun soaked, lively, and full of connection - remain among the family's most treasured memories
Clyde was one of the original founding fathers, known as the "Ten Trolls" of the Denver Danes Organization that began in 1973. He was the organization's third president - truly a Dane by association! He also built and donated the stained-glass Viking ship that symbolizes the organization; still thriving today as a hub for social gatherings and celebration of traditions for Danish Americans.
Clyde's life was defined not by accolades, but by the way he lived: with devotion to his Lord and his family. He leaves behind a legacy carried forward by his beloved wife Vera, his children Kim (Janet) Davidson, Sherrie (Fred) Korfhage, and Randy Davidson; his grandchildren, Kevan (Roberta) Davidson, Jenna (Matthew) Mejeur, Nicolaus (Miyako) Korfhage and Jacob Davidson; and his seven great grandchildren. Clyde is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Brooke Mejeur, daughter-in-law, Sharon Davidson, grandson, Kenneth Davidson, sister Shirley Werdebaugh and brother Larry Davidson.
Though Clyde is no longer with us, the life he built, the love he gave, the art he created and the memories he shaped continue to shine brightly. His legacy lives in every piece of stained glass, every family story and every spark of creativity he inspired. He will be deeply missed, and he will never be forgotten.
