Clyde Benjamin Godfrey Sr.

Clyde Benjamin Godfrey, Sr., 86, of Charleston, SC, widower of J. Lorine Wilson Godfrey, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 18, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Friday, March 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Clyde was born October 19, 1928 in Eutawville, SC, son of the late John B. Godfrey and the late Marie Sweatman Godfrey. He was a Staff Sergeant with SC National Guard. Clyde was a Supervisor for SCE and G, life member of Mason Mariner #2 and a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Clyde "Benny" B. Godfrey, Jr. (Brenda) of Hollywood, SC; daughter, Deborah Ann Godfrey Welch of Charleston, SC; sister, Jinx Hinnant of Eutaville, SC; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Wilson and Clarice Wilson; four granddaughters, Mary Ann Powers, Angela Godfrey Gagne, Jennifer Mitchum (Dustin), and Crystal Godfrey Muir (Louis) all of Charleston, SC; four great-granddaughters, Hannah Powers, Caroline Mitchum, Katelyn Gagne and Sophie Powers, all of Charleston, SC, one grandson, Jerry Powers and one great-grandson, Reed Benjamin Muir.
