It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clyde William Graves. He departed peacefully on January 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.

Born in Pasadena, Texas on July 14, 1958, Clyde was the son of the late Ronald Bernard Graves and Sarah Ann (Basey) Millican. On January 16, 1981, Clyde embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married the love of his life, Donna Ramona Hiser. Their sacred union took place in the warmth of her parents' home in Pasadena, Texas.

Clyde and Donna relocated to Quitman in 1991. Clyde's commitment to his faith was unwavering, as he proudly became a cherished member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, where he shared his devotion with fellow worshippers. He joyously taught Sunday school and embraced the profound wisdom of the Word of God, instilling these values in others.

Clyde's dedication extended beyond his family and faith. For many years, Clyde dedicated himself to serving his community as a substance abuse counselor at the Clyde M. Johnston Unit in Winnsboro. His sincere dedication touched the lives of countless individuals, providing them with hope and guidance on their path to recovery. In December 2021, Clyde decided to retire, having left a lasting impression on the lives he had helped transform.

Among his many passions, Clyde enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, fishing, woodworking, and the Dallas Cowboys. With unwavering loyalty, he cheered on the Cowboys, sharing in the triumphs and tribulations of his team. Clyde's love for music was infectious. He would burst into song at any given moment, bringing joy and laughter to those who surrounded him. His vast collection of albums showcased his appreciation for various genres and served as a testament to his ability to find comfort and solace in melodies and lyrics.

To his adored grandchildren, Clyde was affectionately known as "PawPaw." He cherished the bond he shared with them.

Clyde is preceded in death by his brother, Dale Ray Smith; son, Robert William “Beau” Graves; mother, Sarah Ann Millican; father, Ronald Bernard Graves; and sister, Elynda Elaine Smith.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 43 years, Donna Graves; two children, Victor Donald “Bubba” Graves and wife Ashley, and Benjamin Michael Graves and wife Kristyn; two siblings, James Henry Smith and Patricia Rachelle “Trish” Jones and husband Kip; five grandchildren, Alyssa Bryn, Cooper Beau, Colton Michael, Ruby June, and Olive Ann; several nephews, one niece, extended family members, and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life for Clyde Graves will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Quitman. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
