Clyde Hatzell Obituary
Born Dec. 6, 1940, in Olean, he was the son of the late Clyde L. and Margaret E. Taggerty Hatzell. He married Margaret Elizabeth Nunamaker, on Aug. 31, 1962, who predeceased him on Aug. 13, 2015.
Jake worked for the former Work and Silvis Company in Allegany. He also drove school bus for many years for the Portville Central School district and owned his own company, C.F. Hatzell and Son. He eventually retired from the Department of Public Works with the village of Portville.
Clyde was a life member and son of the Hinsdale American Legion. He loved spending time with his family, playing Texas Hold 'Em, tickets, going to horse pulls, fishing and boating. He also enjoyed a good Manhattan and a cold Bud Light.
Surviving are four children, Tammy (John) Donnelly of Portville, Susan (Mark) Hellwig of Hinsdale, Robert (Donna) Hatzell of Portville and Paula (Dennis) Hollamby of Portville; 13 grandchildren, Anthony Hatzell, Brittney Lananger, Kristopher Bell, Mark Hellwig, Justin Hatzell, Erica ( Mitchell Finch) Hatzell, Kirk Hellwig, Stacie Dutton, Michael Donnelly, Mikayla Hatzell, Amber Donnelly, Chris Donnelly and Ryan Donnelly; several great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Rhonda (Jerry) Lewis.
In addition to his wife, Jake was predeceased by a daughter, Tara Hatzell; and a brother, Donald Taggerty.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2022) at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville, and at a later date.
Memorials if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
