Clyde Martin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home - Childress on Dec. 4, 2025.
Clyde Marvin Martin passed from this life on Thursday, December 4, 2025 in Childress, TX.

Graveside services will be held at Childress Cemetery on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Mr. Ronnie Shoffner officiating.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Childress from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Clyde was born in Childress, Texas on January 6, 1952 to Clarence M. Martin and Nellie Mae Hoover Martin.

Clyde was known to "pick at ya" if he "poked fun at ya" then you knew he really liked you! He was a tough Father with an unshakable spirit. Clyde and Brenda shared 55 years of marriage with one another-The two of them loved to dance and they were extraordinary at it; when they danced with one another they would glide graciously like they were on glass. Clyde made it known that on their 50th wedding anniversary he wanted Johnny Bush to come sing to him and Brenda. Sadly Mr. Bush passed away on their 50th wedding anniversary and was not able to come sing for them. However their daughter; Nedra was able to get them a signed autograph on a wedding photo of Clyde and Brenda and some fan gear along with stickers and such. Clyde will be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His hard headed spirit will never be forgotten.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Brenda Martin of Childress, TX; daughter, Nedra Youell of Childress, Tx; granddaughter, Caylee M. Youell of Childress; grandson, Cayden M. Youell and wife, Macie of Meridian, TX; great granddaughters, Caydee Jean Youell and one on the way-Cambree June who is due in February; brothers, Marion Martin, Dale Martin and wife Shirley, Paul Martin and wife Patty, Marty Martin and wife Debbie; sisters; Anna Pierce, Hazel Herring, Freda Walker, and Joy Martin; along with too many nieces and nephews to name.

Memorials can be made to meals on wheels at PO Box 473 in Childress Texas or CRMC Hospice.

Even though I hadn´t seen Clyde in nearly 28 years, the memories I have of him are still bright. When I was a kid, he always welcomed me like family, and I can still hear him calling me the little "green-eyed devil" with that grin of his. Those days out at his place were filled with fun, laughter, and a sense of freedom I´ll never forget.

Clyde had a way of making people feel seen and appreciated, and that kindness has stayed with me all these years. I´m grateful for the moments he gave me and for the warmth he showed during a time in my life when those little things meant everything.

He will be remembered with fondness, and his spirit lives on in the stories and smiles he left behind.
May he rest in peace.
