Clyde Elsworth Peavler

Clyde Elsworth Peavler, 95, of Topeka, was born on December 21, 1930 to Sherman and Pearl Peavler in Silver Lake Kansas, went with his Lord and Savior surrounded by loved ones on March 22, 2026.

Clyde’s life was defined by dedication and a strong work ethic. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he served as a tank operator during the Korean War. Following his military service, Clyde spent over two decades with Kitty Clover before committing another twenty years to the United States Postal Service.

Family was the heart of Clyde’s life. He married his beloved wife, Mary Charlene (Brown) Peavler, on April 2, 1955, sharing nearly 71 years of love, companionship, and mutual respect.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Mary Charlene; their children, Steve (Lisa) Peavler and Mike (Shannon) Peavler. Grandchildren, Dr. Casey (Stephanie) Peavler, Dr. Marcus (Ashley) Peavler, Danielle Peavler, Whitney (Michael) Maniscalco, Brooks (Rachel) Peavler, Brent Peavler, Dr. Ian (Laura) Mabry, and Holly (James) Jeffries; and his great-grandchildren, Quinn and Emma Shafer, Eli and Harper Peavler, Vincent Maniscalco, Connor and Jackson Mabry, and Lily and Alexander Jeffries, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas; his parents, Sherman and Pearl Peavler; and his twin brother Clayton, and siblings Clifford, Albert, Norman, Veda Flanagan, and Peggy Ross. His sister, Wanda Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Laurie Tibbs Nesbitt, also survive. 

A life long member of the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church. He was deeply involved in every aspect of church life: active in Bible study, Sunday School, the Men's Group, choir, and entrusted with counting money after services for many years. He found great joy in pitching for and coaching the church’s fast-pitch softball team, where his natural leadership and encouragement left an indelible mark on his teammates. He was a man of many interests, often found golfing, woodworking in his shop, or settling in to watch a classic Western.

Clyde and Charlene were a constant presence at their sons' and grandchildren’s sporting events, always there to cheer them on. Together, they embraced an active social life—square dancing, camping with the “Bulldozers,” and faithfully rooting for the Royals, Chiefs, and KU Basketball. To escape the Kansas cold, they spent their winters in South Texas, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the company of dear friends.

A visitation to honor his life will take place from 10:00am to 11:00am Saturday March 28, 2026 at Parker Price and Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. His funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the same location. Clyde will be laid to rest at Silver Lake Cemetery after his service.
