Clyde Simeroth was born on October 26, 1936, to Trusty and Bell Simeroth. He grew up on the family farm in Trousdale, Oklahoma with his brothers and sisters. Clyde loved sharing stories of his time on the farm, hunting, and fishing on the ponds around the property.
Clyde graduated from Connors State College in 1956. Eventually, Clyde found his calling, proudly serving his country in the US Air Force. Clyde was a draftsman during active duty in Vietnam. After Clyde's tour of duty, he and his family enjoyed their time stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in
Montgomery, Alabama, Kelly Air Force Base in
San Antonio, TX, and AFCENT in the Netherlands before landing at Bergstrom Air Force base in
Austin, TX in 1980. Clyde served 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E7).
After his career in the military, Clyde found his second passion, working for the Austin school district in the Media Arts department. Clyde worked 24 years at AISD until his retirement in 2009.
The military brought Clyde more than just a career, it led him to the love of his life, Dolly Anspach. Dolly and Clyde met square dancing at Dyess Air Force Base in
Abilene, TX. The next Sunday, Dolly sold Clyde a box of Christmas Cards at the church fundraiser and their love story began. Dolly and Clyde dated until July 10, 1965, when they were united in matrimony in Abilene, Texas. In 1966 their love grew when they welcomed their first son, Timothy James, in Abilene TX. In 1968 a second son, George (Greg) Andrew, was born in Fort Belvoir, VA.
Dolly and Clyde raised their two boys in
Austin, TX where they lived in Oak Hill on Scenic Brook Drive for 41 years. Their lives were enriched by the friends they made who they considered family. Clyde spent years tinkering in the garage or in the yard. He was either working on cars, helping fix a lawnmower for a neighbor, growing his tomatoes, or doing artwork. He was an artist, creating sketches, designing leather, and building toys and stepstools out of wood. People recognized him as a fixture of the neighborhood, fondly referring to him as the Mayor of Scenic Brook.
Clyde was a devoted Catholic. He and Dolly were founding members of St. Catherine of Sienna. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and usher. Dolly and Clyde were in regular attendance at the Saturday vigil Mass as well as the holy days of obligation.
Dolly and Clyde enjoyed years of holiday celebrations in
Belton, TX with Tim, and Emily, along with family and friends. He loved passing the time fishing at the Tipton family pond. In the summer of 2022, Dolly and Clyde relocated to
Leawood, KS, to be closer to family. George (Greg) and Kristin, along with family and friends, welcomed them with open arms and cherished the time they had together.
