Mr. Cobie Sadler of Lebanon entered into eternal rest at 3:55 a.m. Saturday morning August 30, 2025 with his wife and daughter at his bedside. He was pronounced deceased at the age of 81 at the family's Wildwood Avenue home at 4:44 a.m. by Gentiva Hospice of Lebanon.

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon September 2nd at 1 p.m. with John Mabery officiating. Mr. Sadler's son, Dale Sadler will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.

The family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage on Monday September 1st from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Tuesday September 2nd from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral services.

Born December 8, 1943 in the Oak Grove Community of Macon County, he was the middle child and only son of the late Verdell Sadler who died in 1980 at the age of 55 and Cornelia Bell Sadler Bohanan who died November 21, 2008 at the age of 83.

A daughter, Wanda Kaye, which was a twin to Sonya, died at the age of three months of age on November 1, 1966 and a sister, Janice Kay Sadler Boles, also preceded Mr. Sadler in death at the age of 75 on September 12, 2017.

Mr. Sadler was a recipient of his General Education Degree.

In Westmoreland on January 11, 1974, he was united in marriage to Davidson County native, the former Shirley Marie Lewis.

The Sadler's were longtime residents of the Rome Community before relocating to Lebanon in 2016.

While residing in the Rome Community the family were members of the Carthage Church of Christ where Mr. Cobie served as a Deacon and after moving to Lebanon and at the time of his death he and Shirley were members of the 109 Church of Christ.

Mr. Sadler was an employee of the William L. Bonnell Company in Gordonsville for eight years and retired in 2008 from the S & S Industries in Mount Juliet where he was employed for thirty-six years.

Mr. Sadler was active in the work of the Lord's Church and was active in two mission trips to Honduras and was a participant and supporter of the work of the Jackson-Smith Christian Youth Camp located in Holland, Kentucky.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley, of over fifty-one years is their daughter, Sonya Whited and husband Jeff of Lebanon; two sons, David Butterworth and wife Denise of Carthage, Dale Sadler and wife Malita Birdwell Sadler of the Cottontown Community; sister, Glenda Sadler Taylor of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren, Mason and Campbell Sadler, Tommy Whited, Krista Petraitis, Kayla Minchey and Katie Hutchins.

The Sadler family has requested memorials to either the Jackson-Smith County Youth Camp or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
