Codey Dan Lewis, known affectionately as Codey to his friends and family, embarked on his final adventure on May 25, 2025. Born on the first day of 1974 in the heart of Burnet, Texas, Codey's journey through life was one marked by boundless curiosity, a love for the great outdoors, and an unquenchable thirst for connection with those around him. His departure from this world in Lampasas has left a void in the hearts of many.
Codey's early years were shaped by the loving guidance of his parents, Glenn and Jennette Lewis, and his mother, Sue Smith. Though they have passed on before him, the values they instilled in Codey-kindness, resilience, and creativity-remained his guiding stars. His sister Kim, along with his grandparents and great-grandparents, also played important roles in his upbringing, weaving a wise family heritage that Codey carried with pride.
Survived by his brother Chris Wright, a niece, nephews, his Aunt Betty, numerous cousins, and friends and their families, Codey's absence will be felt. Each of these individuals was touched by Codey's spirit and his innate ability to make every encounter feel significant.
Codey's educational journey began at Llano High School and continued with some college. His professional life was as varied as the Texas landscape, giving him the title of a true Jack of all trades. From ranching to pipelining, Codey embraced every opportunity with a can-do attitude that inspired all who worked alongside him. And lots of "what ifs".
But it was outside of work where Codey truly shone. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found solace in the serenity of nature and the thrill of the chase. Codey's passion for conversation was legendary; he could talk for hours on end, captivating his listeners with tales of his latest adventures or sharing his dreams of future escapades. His pursuit of the elusive diamond in the rough took him on travels far and wide, yet he always returned home with stories that sparkled brighter than any gemstone.
Let us remember that, like Codey, we each have the power to leave an indelible mark on the world around us.
Codey Dan Lewis's story is not one of an end but a continuation. His spirit lives on in the laughter of his friends and family, in the stories shared among friends around a campfire. As we celebrate Codey's life, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, adventure, and creativity.
In the words of Codey himself, "Life's a grand adventure, and I'm just here to ride it till the wheels fall off." Ride on, Codey, ride on.
