Cody M. Myers, 37, of Lock Haven, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Born on November 30, 1987, in Lock Haven, PA, Cody was the beloved son of Todd Myers and Sandee Miller.
A 2006 graduate of Central Mountain High School, Cody answered the call to serve his country by enlisting as a soldier in 2008. In 2011, he mobilized in support of Operation New Dawn. While serving, he pursued higher education, joining Lock Haven University's ROTC program in 2013 and earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. In May 2015, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 228th BSB H Company, where he attended the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Lee, VA, and served as both Maintenance Control Officer and Operations Officer. In December 2017, Cody transitioned to the 228th Transportation Battalion, attending the Captains Career Course in March 2019. Later that year, CPT Myers assumed command of A CO 128 BSB, leading for three years before his final assignment as a National Guard Liaison Officer with Penn State University Army ROTC. Dedicated to education and leadership, he continued his own studies, earning a Master's degree from Penn State while shaping the future of countless ROTC cadets.
Cody's distinguished military career was recognized with numerous awards and decorations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Governor's Unit Citation, and the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.
Beyond his service, Cody was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin along Pine Creek. His passion for hunting led him on adventurous trips across states with his father and close friends, creating cherished memories in places far from home. Whether in the woods or by the water, he treasured every moment in the wild, sharing his love of the outdoors with those closest to him.
On September 7, 2019, Cody married the love of his life, Desiree Courter Myers, who survives. He was a devoted husband and father to his three children, Chael, Tatum, and Maren, who were his greatest pride and joy.
Cody is also survived by his father, Todd (Deana) Myers; his mother, Sandee (Jeff) Miller; his sister, Shaylyn Myers (Dillon Casner), his nephew, Caden and a newly arrived niece. He leaves behind his father-in-law, Bryan (Sandra) Courter, and mother-in-law, Stacey Horner, as well as his grandparents, Edward (Carol) Myers and Anthony (Rebecca) Guerriero. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Kevin (Janell) Myers, Bradley (Kate) Myers, and Beth Bartlett. He also leaves behind cousins, friends, and military brothers and sisters.
A memorial service to honor Cody's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal Street, Mill Hall, PA. Family and friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Mark Riley of Flemington First Church of Christ will officiate.
