Cody Allen Smith of Byram, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. He was 22 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December 1st from 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. He will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial South Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Cody was born May 10, 2000, in Flowood, MS to Michael Smith and Shelly Smith Ratcliff. He worked as a shop manager in construction. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved camping, hiking, kayaking, rafting and canoeing. He loved horses and had been riding them since he was very young. He enjoyed shooting pool and gaming with friends. His latest interest was classic car shows and was working on a truck that he was very proud of, to enter in the shows.
Cody is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Oscar Smith, his maternal grandfather, James Nathan Norris, Sr. and his maternal great grandmother, Irene McPhail. He is survived by his parents, Michael Smith(Angie) of Byram; mother, Shelly Smith Ratcliff(Jimmy) of Florence; sister, Kristin Irene Smith(Mark Johnson) of Hattiesburg; paternal grandmother, Dorothy "Dot" Smith of Jackson; maternal grandparents, James and Phyllis Dunn of Brandon; maternal great grandfather, A.G. McPhail of Jackson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members.
