Coke Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 8, 2025.
FORT WORTH - Our Coke Marshall Smith, 43, of Fort Worth, Texas departed this world for a bigger, beautiful, Heavenly celebration early in the morning on March 3, 2025, in a room filled with intense rejoice and sorrow. He is no longer in pain, he is forever reveling in warmth and love and amusement.
Coke Marshall was born under the hot Texas sun July 14,1981. He was a light, a laugh, and a little loud. Coke Marshall was a joyful brother, a high spirited son, and generous friend. He was a dancer, an actor, a lover of the world and all of its people. He was also a swimmer, a church acolyte, and an entertainer. He loved to pile his food high and add ketchup on top. He lived his life hard and loved his people harder.
Coke was a giver; when he had something, he gave. When he had next to nothing, he gave. He was one of a kind. Coke had spirit, he loved music and a good time. He lit up our rooms and our hearts. He maybe broke your heart too, like right now when you remember that he is gone. He also struggled as people do. He walked miles of roads that most of us will never know, loving and giving to those in his path. His last gift in life to his friends and family was a Christ-like heart, completely filled with gratitude. A childlike kindness radiated from his body. In the midst of his pain, he showed us real lessons of grace, forgiveness, and how very easy it can be to show up and show love by giving and serving.
Our world is dimmer today, but we have hope in one day joining Coke's Heavenly celebration.
Coke Marshall was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juanita and Louis Jones (Grammie and Grandad) and Georgia and Billy Joe Smith (Honey and Big Dad.)
He is survived by his parents, Judy Lynn Jones, Coke Smith, and Tracy Smith; his siblings, Angie Smith, Billy Joe Smith, Tabor Smith, and Cody Smith; his nieces and nephews; and so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many very special friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Coke's memory to Rutledge Cancer Foundation, Presbyterian Night Shelter, or an organization of your choice.

Coke my friend, I'm going to miss you! You helped me in some of my darkest moments and when you smiled it made everything seem better. Wish we had more time, but it was your time to go home. Until I see you again my friend, I will always remember the love that you gave.

From All Saints to Ridglea Country Club to Heights and beyond Coke has always been my beloved friend. Although we didn't get really close until high school when the grade difference didn't matter as much, I always loved having him around. We had many lunches, birthdays, school dances, and hang outs together. In fact there were a few times Coke and I thought about having a birthday party together since they were so close together. I remember once I took him as my date to Helen's Sweet 16. We stopped off at the mall to get her present and Coke picked a KISS Gene Simmons action figure which is just like Coke to pick out. He was always thinking outside the box and bring me on wild tangents. I can beleive our time is over. But I know I will see you again. Love Bridget Ball (classmate)
