Colby Grace Grover passed away in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday, May 13, 2023, one month shy of her 23rd, birthday. Colby was born on June 13, 2000 in Midland, Texas. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Steve Schorr officiating, followed by a reception at the home of Rosalind Grover. Colby is survived by her father, David Grover of Dallas, her two sisters, Riley Grover and Landry Grover, her Uncles Arden Grover Jr., Jeffrey & Lonnie Grover and their son Ethan Grover, her Aunt Rosson Grover, and her first cousins, Kapps Killingstad and Rosalind Killingstad all of Dallas, her grandparents Dusty and Barbara Rhodes, her tutu, Rosalind Grover, all of Midland, and her aunt Leslie Rhodes of Lubbock. Colby is preceded in death by her mother, Kelly Rhodes Grover and her grandfather, Arden R. Grover. Colby Grover was one of the most selfless and caring people that we will ever come across. Her smile brightened up a room, as did her lightheartedness. Her personality was contagious! She never failed to make those around her feel loved and cherished. Colby ventured out of her comfort zone and attended boarding school at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. She made many lasting friendships and had a meaningful impact on the Episcopal community. While in high school, Colby assumed multiple leadership roles. Colby's peers had great confidence in her judgment and empathetic nature, electing her to the school's Disciplinary Committee. Colby was an accomplished volleyball and squash player. Colby was passionate about school spirit and always cheered for her friends during sporting events. At Texas Christian University (TCU), Colby forged new friendships and joined the Tri-Delta Sorority. Colby was actively engaged in community service through her sorority, once again feeling a responsibility to uplift those around her. Colby was a creative talent and focused her academic efforts on creative writing. Colby brought joy to her sisters, Landry and Riley, and had a close relationship with her father, David. Colby was an adventurer and loved cliff diving, horseback riding, white water rafting, skiing, and even convinced her father to skydive with her. The Grover girls had a bond that will never be forgotten. For Colby, family was a priority. Despite moving to Dallas, she made significant efforts to stay connected with her family in West Texas. Colby touched the lives of her friends and family, and she will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, P.O. Box 61950, Midland, TX 79711 or to the Kelly Rhodes Grover Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
