Colin Munro Obituary

Son of Dr. Nathan D. Munro and Elizabeth Asselin Munro, Colin Donald Munro II was a loving father, husband, brother, uncle to many, colleague and friend to even more. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Nectar Sarkissian Munro, and his four children, Duncan James Badgley Munro, Gillian Elizabeth Koehling Munro, Alexander Sarkissian Munro, and Anna-Marie Sarkissian Munro. Colin is also survived by his sister Mary Munro Moburg, and his brother David Badgley Munro and his wife Lori and his many nieces and nephews.
Colin earned his B.A. from DePauw University, his J.D. from the University of Detroit, and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law. He was admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, and Michigan, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Throughout his distinguished career, Colin advised multinational corporations, nonprofit organizations, and individuals in U.S. immigration law and related tax matters. He served as International Tax Counsel for Bristol Myers and later as Counsel to GE International. He founded The Munro Law Group, LLC, before joining McCarter & English as a partner, and later served as Counsel at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in New York. He was a longtime member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Colin was an expert home chef, an avid outdoorsman, and a gifted tinkerer. He loved to fix things-not only when they were broken, but when they could be made just a little bit better. He took quiet joy in improving the world around him. Colin will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, generous heart, and unwavering curiosity about the world. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and integrity that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
