Colleen Gay Christian

Colleen Gay Christian, 66, died comfortably and peacefully on April 2, 2024. 

She was born in Peterborough, NH, on December 3, 1957, the youngest child to the late Ronald D. Christian and Janet Letourneau Girouard. She was raised in Jaffrey with her family, including her five siblings, and attended her Aunt Lorna Letourneau's school. She made her First Communion with lessons from Sister Edward at St Patrick's in Jaffrey. She also attended Monadnock Work source and in the summer, where she loved to go swimming in the pool with her friend, Barbie Sanborn. 

She had some special needs, and despite all the challenges throughout her years, she loved life. 

In her adult years, when she could no longer live at home, Colleen had a few special caregivers with whom she shared living arrangements in their homes. Some of her favorite hobbies included looking at photographs that she kept in a big box, playing the piano which she especially had a talent for – she’d listen to a song once and was able to play the song flawlessly, and loved to sing to all kinds of songs. She had a huge heart and loved animals, including cherished kisses from Milo, Koda, Oliver, and Beezer. Her favorite holidays to celebrate were Christmas and Easter. Her ability to remember details was also quite amazing, as she could recall people from her past and retold stories about them over and over. One of her favorite past time stories to retell was of how Eleanor Lambert pulled out her tooth!

She loved her Aunt Boo in Rockport, MA, as well, and looked forward to trips to visit her, where they travelled to enjoy Front Beach, eat fried clams, and go to Tuck’s for saltwater taffy, as well as candy cigarettes from the Country Store.  

She collected a lot of sweatshirts that had pictures and names of all the younger kids and made it a point to show all of the kids' names.

She won’t be easily forgotten, for Colleen loved easily, and Colleen was easily loved. 

She had a sweet relationship with her loving, Grammy & Grandpa Letourneau.

She will be forever remembered by her siblings, Keith Christian (Cindy Christian), Kathleen Taylor (Jeff Underwood), Edie Kemp (Dave Kemp), Larry Girouard, and Bruce Girouard. Her beloved nieces and nephews, Becky Hansen (Eric Hansen), Rob Kemp, Scott Kemp, Jessica Soles (Lewis Soles), Jenny Taylor, and many younger nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law Henry Taylor with whom she shared a special bond., and grand-nieces and grand- nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

There will be no calling hours. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Hillcrest Road, in Jaffrey.
