Colleen Hopkins Obituary

Colleen Leatrice Baillie Hopkins, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Sunnyview Nursing Home. She was 98 years old and lived a long, full life surrounded by the people and things she loved most.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) with family and friends invited for visitation an hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Born on December 30, 1926, Colleen married the love of her life, Keith Dean Hopkins, on August 22,1942. What began as a beautiful romance blossomed into a 57-year marriage. They built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and friendship until Keith's passing.

Colleen was a devoted mother to three cherished children, Robin Oleson (John), Michael Hopkins (Jackie), and Renee Heberer (Alan). And when called upon by her sister's passing, Colleen opened her heart and home to raise two of her sister's sons, Erin and Shane (Linda) Cole. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys, and she took pride in the growing family that came after them.

Colleen's kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Family was so important to Colleen, and she cherished every moment she spent with her loved ones. She loved spending time outdoors and had a true passion for her gardens - her flowers were as vibrant and full of life as she was. She also enjoyed golfing with Keith and their friends, traveling to visit with family in California, and spending special time with Kay and Hop.

Those who knew Colleen will remember her as a kind, beautiful, and caring person, someone who radiated warmth, grace and love in all she did. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with Keith and Robin, and that her loving spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ankeny Area Historical Society.
