Colleen Simmonds (O'Brien) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2025.
Colleen Marie Simmonds (O'Brien), beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. Heaven gained an angel that day as she joined her husband, Keith, in eternal rest.

Born September 1, 1937, in Spokane, WA, to Michael and Ethel O'Brien, Colleen attended St. Francis of Xavier and Marycliff High School. She worked in the medical field as a receptionist and assistant, and in her earlier years, she was a stay-at-home mom and daycare provider.

Keith and Colleen were blessed with four children: Patty (Brian) Syhlman and Karen Hare of Spokane, WA; Mark (Helen) Simmonds of Hawaii; and Steve (Rhonda) Simmonds of New Mexico. She treasured her grandchildren-Conner, Marisa, Kaitlynn, Nathan, Derick, Quinn, Jourdan, Natalie, Griffin, Claire, Ciera, and Nick-and adored her great-grandchildren, Elora and Bennett. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, and she was endlessly proud of each of them.

Colleen's passions reflected her beautiful soul. She loved driving, singing, celebrating her Catholic faith and traditions, and making every holiday or gathering special. With her warm, welcoming spirit, she never met a stranger and brought light and comfort to everyone she knew.

She is now reunited with her husband, Keith; her parents, Michael and Ethel; her siblings, Michael, Jerry, and Kathleen. Colleen will be remembered always for her faith, kindness, generosity, and love. Her legacy lives on in her family and in the many lives she touched.

A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 4420 N. Jefferson, Spokane, WA 99205.
