Coltan Vohland Christensen, 29, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Coltan was born on November 24, 1994, at home, in Bountiful, Utah to parents Shane Christensen and Melanie Nickerson.
Coltan spent his childhood years growing up in Cane Beds, Arizona where he, along with his three sisters, were schooled at home by their mother. Coltan learned responsibility and hard work ethics by his many chores and tasks around the family property. As an adult, Coltan moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and under the loving guidance of family and friends of the greater Salt Lake area, he excelled in many notable career opportunities such as ski lift operator, stone mason, oxygen delivery driver, solar power installation technician, to name but a few.
Coltan had many hobbies and passions. As a young man he played little league baseball and was a Boy Scout with many merits. As a teenager, he loved riding skateboard which turned into a love for snowboarding. He loved BMX sports, starting with the scooters and moving onto bicycles. He was extremely talented in all endeavors. As an adult he loved building his own streetcar and racing. He was always updating and customizing his ride.
Coltan is survived by a son, Sebastian Carranza, parents Shane (Dana) Christensen, Melanie Nickerson (Seth Barlow), sister’s Jessica (Cody) Stubbs, Ashel Christensen, and Lyndon Christensen, and many stepsiblings. Grandparents Holly (Troy) Davis, Jim (Vickie) Wilkinson, Darcy Sweetgall (Robert, deceased). Great grandmother Joy Christiansen. Many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Coltan is preceded in death by grandfather Lee Christensen and by many loving grandparents and great grandparents.
There will be a viewing on Saturday, May 18th, 5:00 -7:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. There will be a second viewing Sunday, May 19, 2024, 9:00 – 9:45 am at Spilsbury Mortuary followed by the funeral services at 10:00 am, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah.
Family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to view the services online by clicking on the link below.
Interment will take place at the Christensen Family Cemetery, 2095 East 3200 South (Liberty Lane) in Cane Beds, Arizona.
