Columbus “C.L.” Lowery Spence, 87, passed away on Thurs. July 27, 2023 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Mon. July 31, 2023 from 9:30am-11am at Brandon Baptist Church. Funeral Services are 11am on Mon. July 31, 2023 at Brandon Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS handled arrangements.
Mr. Spence was born on June 21, 1936 in Franklin Parish, LA to the late Marion John Spence and Nanny Elizabeth Cox Spence. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Spence is survived by his wife, Thelma Spence; children, Roger Spence (Marie), Cheney Spence (Diana) and Karen Hudson; sisters, Carrie Ruth Thornton, Sandra Mulkey (Bill), Betty Willis (Buddy), Polly Smith (Paul), Ann Tibbett and Roxie Blanco (Carlos); brothers, Sidney Spence (Mary), Billy Spence and Marion Spence (Susan); grandchildren, Angela Diggs (Kevin), Carl Spence (Christine), Johnanna Bogdanny (Scott), Lacie Sistrunk (Brandon), Charles Hudson, Shelby Hudson, Sophie Hudson and Trace Mathis; great-grandchildren, Oliver Diggs, Lucy Diggs, Porter Spence, Colt Spence, Sawyer Sistrunk, Brody Sistrunk and four bonus great-grandchildren, Marissa Bogdanny, Haley Bogdanny, Jamie Bogdanny and Travis Bogdanny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
