Concepción Rivas

Concepción Rivas, age 84, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Neighbors of Dunn County, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 7, 1942, in Maiquetía, La Guaira State, Venezuela, the daughter of Ana Luisa Rivas and Higinio Rodriguez. Concepción spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker. She was never married and lovingly cared for her mother until her passing. Throughout her life, she also helped raise and care for numerous nieces and nephews.

After her mother's death, Concepción moved to the city of Valencia, Venezuela, where she continued her lifelong role of nurturing and supporting family members, helping to raise more nieces and nephews.

Concepción had many interests and talents. She loved cooking special meals and baking desserts, and she found joy in climbing trees, painting, coloring, crocheting, playing video games, watching movies, and singing in the Seventh day Adventist Church choir. She lived selflessly, always placing the needs of others before her own and never hesitating to lend a helping hand. Above all, Concepción cherished spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Luisa Rivas, and many beloved nieces and nephews: Yolanda Rivas of Cagua; Alfonzo Rivas of Chaguaramas; Henry Rivas of Chaguaramas; Roxana (Curt) Eng of Elmwood; Carol (Mike) Nevins of Red Wing; and Lenin Grillet of La Cumaca. She is also survived by her great grandnieces and great grandnephews: Curtis, Luisa, Christian, Isabella, Patrick, Sarahi, Sinai, Samuel, and Santiago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ana Luisa Rivas and Higinio Rodriguez, and by her siblings, Trina Rivas, Eloisa Rivas, Alejandrina Rivas, Luis Rivas, and Cristobal Rivas.

A visitation will be held on February 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Rhiel Funeral Home, 2317 Schneider Avenue SE, Menomonie, WI 54751. A brief Christian service and burial will immediately follow the visitation at Evergreen Cemetery, at 13th Street North, Menomonie, Wisconsin. A luncheon will be held after the burial at Cancun Mexican Restaurant in Menomonie.
