Conlin Brogan Obituary

Conlin R. "Lyn" Brogan
04/04/1938 - 09/06/2025
Conlin R. "Lyn" Brogan, 87 left us to be with the lord on September 6, 2025. Lyn came to Houston in 1989 due to employment in the oil business. He was a senior officer in New York before his arrival here where he attained executive status. Here in Houston he met Linda Loy Morris, the "love of his life" in early 1996 and married her later that year. Along with Linda he leaves his surrogate family: daughter Suzanne Morris Walsh and her husband Dennis and their daughters Meagan and Caitlin; daughter Leslie Morris, DNP, R.N.
Lyn's living children are son, William Brogan and wife Sue and their children, Eryn, Ryan (wife Megan) and great grandchild Hailey; and son, Timothy Brogan and Fiancée Nicole and their children Christian Joseph (C.J.), Brandon and Savanna; daughters, Tamara Brogan and Selena Brogan.
His "mantra" was Sometimes wrong, but never in doubt.
Pallbearers include Eamonn Finnerty, Roger Kenneavy, Peter Little, "Max" McElroy, Ciaran "Mr. C." Simon, Justice Jim Sharp. Honorary Pallbearers include Tommy O'Rourke, John Reynolds, Patrick Sharkey and "Sandy" Smith.
Before coming to Houston on full-time employment, Lyn was a member of the AOH, Daniel O'Connell Div, #2 in Elizabeth, NJ. He was also an active member of the County Cork Men's Ass'n in Queens, NY. He became very involved with Houston's Irish Society in 2000. He was a founder of the Irish Society Gala along with Irish Consul General John Kane (R.I.P.) and Rev. Charles Greene which raised enough funds during 2001 thru 2004 to establish The Center for Irish Studies at the University of St. Thomas. Having met that commitment, there was a two year hiatus in that annual event. Then, at the suggestion of Irish Society President Pat Sharkey & Board Member Jeannie Kearns (R.I.P.), Lyn led the inaugural Irish Society St. Patrick's Celebration Dinner in March 2006. He continued as Chairman of that event thru 2015. This event still continues. Lyn, a U.S. Army veteran served on the Cardinals Committee in New York, Lectured Twice at Harvard Business School, was the Irish Society Celebration Dinner Honoree in 2016. He was The Irish Society's 1st Treasurer from 2000 thru 2015. Lyn also served on the Irish Society Board during that tenure. He was an ardent Astros and Texans fan right to the end.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted by the Irish Society at P.O. Box 980334, Houston, TX 77098 or St. John Vianney Catholic Church, or Seton Paul Preparatory School West Orange NJ, in care of Christian J.S. Brogan Scholarship Fund.
The Brogan family will be present to receive friends Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Lyn will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery following the reception. Yesterday

Lyn was a wonderful guy. Funny, smart, always a gentleman. Enjoyed our many evenings at Kenneally's at the end of the bar. We shared our love of politics and a deep concern for the current state of affairs in our country. Hate to lose a great Democrat! Even though we no lo ger enjoyed nights out together, i did appreciate his occasional call to discuss a letter to the editor, or the issue of the day. He is already missed.
