Connie M. (Smith) Campbell, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA. Born Sept 7, 1945 in Moline, IL., she was adopted and raised by Milo and Jennie Smith. She was a graduate of South Tama High School. She married Donald Campbell on Dec 31, 1965. In 1967 she graduated from Nurse’s training at Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown. Don and Connie bought a house in Montour, IA in December 1966, where they continue to reside. She was a RN at the Iowa Veteran’s Home for many years and after retirement continued to work and volunteer at various nursing homes in the area. She was a proud mother of her three children: Terri (Gregg) Breese, John Campbell, Jim (Meg) Campbell. She had four grandchildren: Kody and Kekoa (Lili) Campbell, Alexis (Joel) Kosinski and Tristan (Elizabeth) Breese. Seven great-grandkids provided her with endless love and entertainment: Olivia, Lilah, Maya and Ezra Campbell, Caleb Pictl and Isaiah Breese and Vincent Kosinski. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law: Marge Good and Bev (Denny) DeVault. Her siblings included Rick (Beth) McRenolds, Marty Jones, Mike (Melanie) Jones, Debbie (Larry) Hux, Aunt Cathy and many nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, biological mother Maxine Jones, brothers Casey (Pam) Jones, Ron McRenolds, sister-in-law Mary Campbell.
She was a friend to anyone that she met and she shared smiles, kind words and spread God’s love to all. She enjoyed family, friends, nursing and ice cream.
Services for Connie will take place on Saturday Oct 18, 2025 at the Montour Methodist Church at 10:30 A.M. with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at the Montour Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the Montour Community Center. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Center or the family to pass along.
