Connie Jo Grove, 68, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away on March 19, 2023, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. She was born on July 29, 1954, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Ralph & Wilma Richardson, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Casondra Wilcox; her grandchildren, Austin Harris and Elizabeth Salhani; and her sister, Karen Isaac.
Connie grew up in Indianapolis, and though she worked at a Dog'n'Suds in high school, her career was spent caring for others as a CNA. Over her 30-year career, hers was a warm, familiar presence at the United Methodist Village and Lawrence Community Healthcare. At home, she spent innumerable hours consumed within the pages of a good book. She also enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting blankets. Her creativity allowed her to craft together dolls, dinosaurs, and even a clown as tall as her granddaughter! Lately, she spent quite a bit of her time watching cat videos online, and this was a great source of joy for her in the twilight years of her life.
We who are left behind will forever cherish our memories of this hard-working, caring, and honest soul. Her honesty was born out of a genuine concern for the well-being of those she loved, and they are better because of it. In fact, we have all benefitted from having known her. Connie Grove lived a good and fulfilling life because it was spent serving others. The love she so readily and consistently poured out remains in our hearts and will continue to serve as her lasting legacy as long as we have the breath to speak her name.
It was her wish to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
