Connie McWilliams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 5, 2026.
Connie McWilliams, born April 14, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on March 2, 2026. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Connie dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, spending many years working in geriatrics, hospice, and pulmonology in Warrensburg, Missouri, and Topeka, Kansas. She provided exceptional care to her patients, treating each one like family. Respected in her field, Connie served as a mentor and role model to countless nurses throughout her career, leaving a lasting impact through her compassion, knowledge, and steady presence.

Outside of her profession, Connie found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She was an avid reader and an amazing cook whose kitchen was always a place of comfort and welcome. Her talents extended to crafting and canning, earning her several ribbons at the Missouri State Fair. She took pride in creating beautiful, handmade items and sharing the fruits of her labor with those she loved.

Connie was also a devoted dog lover who rescued many dogs throughout her adult life, offering them the same care and unconditional love she gave so freely to people. Her faithful companion, Kinsley, remained by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William "Jack" and Esther Huffman, and her brother, William "Bill" Huffman.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Meggin (Kendrick) Finkeldei; her beloved grandsons, Bryce and Jackson of Blue Springs, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Jackie Huffman; her niece, Natalie Perry; her nephew, Nathan (Nate) Huffman; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Per Connie's request, there will be no services. In her memory, donations may be made in her name to Pawsitive Tails Rescue (www.pawsitivetailskc.org).
