Death Notice

Connie Owens

1945 - 2024

Connie Sue Owens passed from this life on February 8, 2024, at her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 24 days. Her family and best friend were by her side as she transitioned to her forever home in Heaven.
Connie was born on November 16, 1945, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Victor Loraine Lewis and Virginia Rose (Pritchett) Lewis. She had an older brother, Gary Franklin Lewis and a younger brother, Mark Wayne Lewis, making her the second among three siblings. Her family moved from Muskogee to Tulsa in 1952 where she would go on to graduate from Edison High School in 1964. After high school, she attended Tulsa Beauty College and soon became a licensed beautician.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Richard Owens on May 8, 1968, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Tulsa where they raised their two sons; Mike and Scott and two daughters; Kristie and Shannon, before moving to Keystone Lake in 1973. In 1975, Connie and her children started attending Westport Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized. In 1978, they completed their family with the addition of their youngest daughter, Ashley.
Connie received a United States patent for a design of food containers that would allow you to set a dial to the date food was stored. Later, she would go on to open her own clothing store, Hip Pockets, in Prattville, OK. After various other places of employment, Connie embarked on a new journey and graduated from Platt College in 1992 with her certificate in Travel, Hospitality and Tourism. She gained employment as a corporate travel agent with Williams Companies and then World Travel Services where she retired in 2011.
Connie will be remembered mostly for being a witty commentator that only waivered in her final days. She enjoyed fishing, cruises, traveling to the Black Hills of South Dakota, partaking in DIY projects, and playing slot machines at any casino she could find.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers and daughter, Ashley.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Owens, of the home; Mike Owens and wife Angie of Flower Mound, TX; Scott Owens of Broken Arrow, OK; Kristie Owens of Tulsa, OK; Shannon (Owens) Bellefleur and husband Eddy of Broken Arrow, OK.
