Connie Priscilla Hollowell Slades, 72, 1324 Greenhall Road, died March 24, 2025, in ECU Health Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Slades was born in Chowan County on December 2, 1952, and was the daughter of the late George Adam and Hazel Boyce Hollowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Shawn Ervin; and by brothers, G.A., Carroll, Joseph, and Terry Hollowell.
A retired Licensed Practical Nurse, she worked most of her career at the former Britthaven Nursing Home, (now Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation). She was a faithful member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving is her husband of 30 years, Michael F. “Mike” Slades; her sister, Betty H. Ward (Jim), and her brother, Jerry Hollowell (Jean), both of Edenton. Also surviving are Mike’s daughters, Misty Friend (Jason) and Jessica Slades, both of Edenton. Together Connie and Mike shared three granddaughers, Emma Ervin, Juliana Slades, and Aaliyah Friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Danny Gurganus. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1614 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
