Connie Willaford Stevenson

Connie Willaford Stevenson of Nine Mile Road, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 20, 1950, Connie lived a life marked by selflessness, love, and devotion to her family and community.

The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at church. Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Bethany Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. The graveside service will be on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Libby Marshburn Family Cemetery at 3:30 pm. Guests are invited to meet at Nine Mile Fire Department at 3:00 pm to join the funeral procession to the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, honoring Connie's generous spirit and her dedication to caring for others.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Elwood Willaford and Norma "Normie" Davis Willaford; her brother, Jerry Bland "J.B." Willaford; her sister, Sharline Willaford Thompson; and her brother-in-law, Stanley Batchelor;

She is survived by her son, Todd Rhodes, and his wife Stephanie; her daughter, Tiffany Davis, and her husband Chris; her brother, Gentry Elwood Willaford, and his wife Rhonda; her sister, Bonnie Willaford Batchelor; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Willaford. Connie was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Dylan Rhodes, Jacob Rhodes, Christian Rhodes, and Elaina Rhodes. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Connie held various roles in her professional career. Connie worked for an Investment Company in Wilmington, NC where she held the position of Floor Broker for Wall Street. Connie was a dedicated Area and Circulation Manager for Ad-Pak Publishing, where she worked diligently and made lasting friendships. Connie was also a certified substitute school teacher in Wilmington and Richlands, NC, where she brought joy to all children she met in the classroom as well as school events. Her true passions, however, lay in the simple joys of life: shag dancing, cooking for her family, and caring for her loved ones with unwavering dedication. She was a devoted caregiver to her parents for many years, embodying the spirit of an angel in her tireless efforts to support those she cherished.

A lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church, Connie found solace and strength in her faith. She was a vibrant presence in her community, known for her love of beach music and her infectious enthusiasm for Christmas. The Nine Mile Christmas Parade was a particular favorite of hers, and she delighted in the joy it brought to all who attended.

Connie was the best mother, a fun-loving spirit who brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
