Connor Jaxon McCaffety, known affectionately to many as Connor, Bubba, Big Puma, Big Mac, or the gentle giant, left this world far too soon on March 31, 2025, along with his parents. He was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him, and his sudden departure at the tender age of 17 has left an indelible mark that broke the hearts of all that knew him, loved him, and were excited to see the man he would become. Born on January 1, 2008, in Bryan, Texas, Connor was the cherished son of Meghan and Clint McCaffety and the beloved brother of Kelsey McCaffety.

He is also survived by his grandparents , Lorianne Bland and Thomas Maddux, Alan Bland and Carrie Barrick, Joy McCaffety and David McCaffety; his aunt and other mother, Jenna Bland and her fiancé Loren Bollin, his aunt Cory McCaffety, uncle Jace Bland and his wife Tristen and cousin Toby, his great grandmothers, Carylon Logan and Velma Lamoureux; his great grandfather, Robert Bland; his great-grandmother Nelda “Nanny” Mucha; his great aunt, Kara Doskocil, and great uncle Doyle Doskocil, along with numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, that will forever remember Connor’s loving spirit.

Connor is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Fred Lamoureux, Mae McCaffety, Lonnie McCaffety Sr, Charles and Shirley Carlson and Milton Mucha.

As a junior at Rogers High School, Connor excelled academically and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. His talents on the baseball field were extraordinary; he was a star pitcher with an average pitch speed of 86-87 mph, occasionally hitting 90 mph with a change-up that was nothing short of elite. In 2023, Connor was honored on the 15U WWBS South World Series all-tournament team, and he achieved baseball academic all-district. His prowess earned him 1st team all-district pitcher/player as a freshman and sophomore. He even received an invitation to the 2023 and  2024 area code baseball Texas Ranger underclass team tryout.

Connor's work with his show cattle was a testament to his dedication and passion. He was a dedicated member of the FFA. He placed 3rd in the Houston Livestock Show and was the Reserve Champion Steer at the Bell County Youth Fair for two out of three years he showed. His love for sports extended beyond the baseball diamond; he won a golf tournament and placed 3rd in the district high school golf tournament, sharing many rounds of golf with his father.

His interests were diverse and deeply rooted in the community and the outdoors. Connor was a key player for the Rogers High School baseball team and the GPS 16U team. He dedicated many weekends to baseball tournaments, always with the dream of becoming a major league pitcher. Connor relished the time spent fishing with his cousin Toby and cherished moments with his friends and stock show family. Those who knew Connor will remember him as a loving, gentle, and passionate young man. His presence was calming, his sportsmanship was inspiring, and his dedication to his interests was unparalleled.

Connor's life, though brief, was one filled with achievements that reflected his strong character and the love he had for his pursuits. As we bid farewell to Connor, we celebrate the legacy of joy and love he leaves behind. He played various roles in his life: a devoted son, a protective brother, a caring grandson, a loyal friend, and an inspiring athlete. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of his vibrant spirit will continue to uplift and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him. Connor's life will be honored in a ceremony that reflects the warmth and affection he shared with everyone around him. As we gather to remember him, we will hold tight to the moments of laughter, the displays of kindness, and the shared dreams that defined his seventeen years with us.

Connor Jaxon McCaffety's journey on earth was a montage of love, friendship, and excellence. As we say goodbye to this gentle giant, we recognize that his impact will endure, his dreams will inspire, and his memory will be cherished forevermore. Connor's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved him.
