Constance Heeg Botkin
04/09/1964 to 07/08/2023
Constance Heeg Botkin passed peacefully in her sleep early morning of July 8, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born April 9, 1964 in Lafayette’s Home Hospital to Lee Ann and Joel Heeg, Connie, as she is known, was 59 years old at death.
She is a 1982 graduate of Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis where she was a state champion swimmer. Following her graduation from Purdue University in 1986 as a registered nurse, she began her long nursing career at Riley Hospital (1986-1993), her dream job. She then moved to St. Vincent Hospital (1993-2006) working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She then shifted to Pediatric Pulmonary at IU North Hospital until she was no longer able to work due to her cancer.
Connie held a special place in the many peoples’ lives she touched. She always wanted to help children, especially those who could not help themselves – the babies who couldn’t speak for themselves. She repeated that statement throughout her life.
She married Michael Botkin April 8, 1995 and the couple had two sons, Jacob (27) and Samuel (24) who survive her. Connie was a fun-loving mother to her sons and a tolerant great wife to her husband. Her loss leaves a huge void in their lives as she was the moral compass that helped stabilize and guide the family. Also surviving are her mother, father, a brother Joel Allen Heeg and his daughter Emily Heeg. She is also survived by her beloved puppy Maizy and her two cats Izzy and Reggie who miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Connie’s life is scheduled Monday, August 14 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Ritz Charles, 12156 North Meridian St., Carmel, IN 46032. (317) 846-9158 www.ritzcharles.com. For friends wishing to donate in her name her family is asking for those donations to go to the Humane Society of Hamilton County where she adopted several pets.
