Penobscot - Constance "Connie" Peters Bridges of Penobscot Maine died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, with her family by her side.
Connie was born June 16, 1937 in Oakfield, Maine to the late Leo (Minerva) Peters and Beryl (Edward) Lukasik.
Constance graduated Oakfield High School at 16 years old earning the superlative "most popular". That she was. She was often found to have a house full of people and her philosophy was always the more the merrier!
As a young girl in Maine, she would spend her school breaks picking potatoes in the fields. She also would cook in the woodsman's camps, and what an amazing cook she was! She moved to Connecticut with her first husband, the late Maurice Lawler, and her young family. After Maurice's passing Connie met William "Bill" Bridges and they were happily married for 46 years. They lived in South Meriden for many years.
Connie was a strong willed, no nonsense person. She would share her opinions with conviction and had a clear moral compass. Connie cared about others. Even in the lean years of raising her children and stepchildren she would put aside gifts for those who had not been as blessed with the love, family and laughter that was often heard within her home.
After raising her children, she worked at Precision Food Service as the office manager until her retirement. After which, she returned to her beloved Maine with the love of her life, William Bridges whom she is predeceased by.
She is survived by her children, Bethany Lawler of Pennsylvania, Lisa (Steven) D'Annolfo of Connecticut, and Gina (Daniel) DiCostanzo of New Jersey; as well as her stepchildren, Rhonda (Phil) Ahl of Ohio, Judy Donegan of Maine and Robbi Bridges of Connecticut. Connie is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several great great -grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Frances (Mary) Peters and half sister Mary (Leon) Cushman; and many nieces and nephews.
Connie is predeceased by her first husband Maurice Lawler, her second husband William Bridges, her children Veronica Lawler Santor, Mark Lawler and Matthew Lawler; her stepson Steven L Bridges, her grandson Steven L Bridges II, and her brother Carl Peters and half brother Edward Lukasik, JR.
She loved her family and has passed on a greater love that will span generations to come.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Monday November 21, 2022 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm St. Bucksport. Interment will be held in the spring.
