Constance "Connie" Louise (Sweeney) McConkey, age 88, of Pickford, Michigan, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, Michigan. She was born on August 1, 1937, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Richard John and Edna Bernice (Harrison) Sweeney.

Connie graduated from Loretto High School with the Class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Dale McConkey on November 26, 1955, in Sault Ste. Marie.

Connie was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Barbeau, Michigan, and Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel, Michigan.

Connie was an Avon sales representative for many years and continued cleaning summer homes until the age of 84, a testament to her strong work ethic. Connie greatly cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She taught CCD classes for many years and was an active member of a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, watching game shows, working outdoors on the family farm, especially raking hay, cutting grass, and tending to her flowers. Connie also loved baking and was an avid reader.

Connie is survived by her children, Beth McConkey, Bob (April) McConkey, Brian McConkey all of Pickford and Carol Roe of Menominee, Michigan; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Patti (Tom) Lamb of Pickford; sisters-in-laws, Marilyn Sweeney and Beverly Nayback; and brother-in-law, Don McConkey.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents, Richard and Edna; in-laws, Harry and Anne McConkey; sister, Sharon (Bill) Ryan; brothers, Mike Sweeney, Jim Sweeney and Jack Sweeney; brothers-in-law, Ray (Marion) McConkey and Clarence Nayback; and nephew, Billy Ryan.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4585 E. 15 Mile Rd. Barbeau, MI 49710. The Memorial Mass will follow immediately at 2:00 PM.

Connie's final resting place will be Holy Family Catholic Cemetery (corner of M-129 and 15 Mile Rd.) in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
