Cora Bumgarner Reid, 87, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

Cora was born on March 7, 1938, in Caldwell County to the late Lola Lou Bumgarner Collins. A 1956 graduate of Granite Falls High School, Cora went on to work for many years in the hosiery industry at Ellis Hosiery in Hickory; following retirement she worked along with her husband at their business B & W Hosiery. Cora was a faithful and long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and will always be lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all who knew her.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Wilson Reid, and her niece, Amy Cherie Starnes.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Linda Kirby, and husband, Paul Buddy Kirby, Jr. of Granite Falls; her sister, Rebecca Starnes of Granite Falls; two grandchildren, Jason Kirby and wife, Tammy, and Julie Crisp, and husband, Jon; and three great-grandchildren, Adam Kirby, Jacob Crisp, and Joshua Crisp.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls, with Rev. Wayne White officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Dan.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.
